All of the sudden…

I’m not a breakfast eater…I haven’t been since I was in High school when my dad prepared my breakfasts for me.  A bowl of cold cereal usually.

He always tried to get me to eat breakfast, but I never much cared for it.  Then, he tells me, educated people eat breakfast on a daily basis.  He was saying this, backing it up with fact, which I later confirmed was true.  He worked for the US Department of Agriculture and in the division of School nutrition, so needless to say, he’s a subject matter expert in this area.

Well, recently, and I’m talking in the last two weeks recent, I’ve been eating breakfast.  Not entirely sure why, though.  Perhaps it’s because I don’t have curtains in my bedroom and Rob and I have been waking up insanely early (before 5 am) because the dawn is starting to get earlier and earlier.  By the time summer’s in full swing, dawn will start around 3:30.  The days are so long.  We want to go to bed around 9:30-10 and it’s still light outside.  Oddly enough, I’m not feeling especially tired throughout the day and I seem to have plenty of energy to do what I need to get done.

Speaking of, I think I am going make a list of things that I need to get done, like Amy does.  I used to use a calendar to write everything that I need to do, but since I don’t have assignments due or other responsibilities like that anymore, using a calendar really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.  A list should suffice.

Casey’s getting better everyday.  He’s getting to the point where he feels confident to jump off of the couch, though I don’t necessarily want him to do that, he does it with the greatest of ease.  He’s not limping around anymore, but is still leery of climbing up the 3 steps that lead indoors.  He still goes out on a leash, but I’m hoping that soon, we won’t have to do that for too much longer.  The hair that was once shaved for his surgery is growing back pretty quickly and I feel confident enough to leave him in his room while we’re away for a short while.

I have been leaving him in the kennel when I clean so that I don’t hurt him or he decides that he wants to try to follow me down the stairs while I’m doing laundry.  Casey really wants to have a buddy around to play with.  Rob said yesterday night, after he came home, “Casey-Boy, if you hadn’t decided to chase the car, we were going to get you a playmate.  And now, we’re going to have a baby soon, so you’re just gonna have to deal with it.”  🙂  That’s a HUGE grin on my face.  No, seriously!  We’re so happy!  Rob says he happier about the progress that I’ve made with the house, but it’s not done yet.  There’s still so much to do.  I am really happy that I got the picture frames up yesterday.  There’s still a box that had the prettys from my curio cabinet, but I haven’t decided where that’s going to end up, so it’s going to stay packed until I can decide!

This is a short week for Rob.  Memorial Day Weekend!  On Friday, we’re setting up our dining room table and chairs and on Saturday, we decided that we’re going to go to Trier, the oldest town in Germany.  We’ll have to make it a day trip because #1:  We’re not completely confident that Casey’s 100% yet and not sure he’s ready for a lot of walking.  #2:  Having not seen our housing allowance for 2.5 months has depleted our savings account significantly and as such, we need to pay off our credit card bill and #3:  We’re trying to save our money for the adoption.  We’re planning on June to have our home study completed.  I’ve also decided that June 1 will be my quit date.  Seemed as good as any other day, but I actually needed to have a date set for that…

Other than that, those are the updates for today.  Thanks for reading and I hope you have a nice day!

  1. Using a calendar for a list, would work well if you need to work on time management. Other than that, I just use a notebook, or my blog. lol

I’ve never been a breakfast eater either- it makes me sick to my stomach.

Glad Casey doing well! Rob’s comment about Casey not being able to have a playmate made me go “aww” and brought tears to my eyes.
