The last day of April

Well, here it is April 30.  Tomorrow is May Day.  In Germany, the kids go around the neighborhoods and ring doorbells for candy and hide stuff that is out.  I didn’t get any candy.  Oh well.  Guess I’m going to have to put trashcans and doormats away for the evening.  Tomorrow, everything is closed.  It’s a German Holiday, but I’m not sure what they celebrate.

In the US, we have May Day, too.  When I was in high school, we went to nursing homes and brought baskets and stuff.  I’m not sure if people still do that.  I’m not even entirely sure what May Day is, except it’s the first day of May.

It was shaping up to be a beautiful day, but the dark grey clouds have rolled in.  It’s not supposed to rain today, but the high temperature was only supposed to be 56 degrees.  It’s 58 right now at 10 in the morning.  It seemed warmer than that when I took Casey outside this morning!

I went to bed awfully late last night…around 1:30 in the morning.  Casey was giving Gizmo a free bath and that’s how I wok up at 9.

There’s still a lot to do to get this house cleaned.  I have no energy for it right now.  Soon, I will get my butt into gear and finish what I can today.

This weekend, I need to get curtains for this house.  The ones that we bought when we were in Hanau are too long.  Rob suggested that I re-hem them, but I’m not a seamstress!  I have a teee-ny tiny machine which I’m not even sure where it’s at right at the moment!

Well, tomorrow is a new month and a new challenge was extended.  I did blog about it.  I talked to Rob–he’s so smart and clever.  He said that Voices is actually EASIER than Letters.  We’ll see about that.

I don’t think that I’ll be blogging in my normal style next month, but I will do update blogs in addition to Voices.  I hope that you will find it interesting!

Alrighty then, I guess I better get moving if I’m ever going to get anything done (yes, I’m procrastinating a little bit!  It’s the way I roll! Haha!)

Well, thanks for reading and have a nice day 🙂

Check this out…

Today, my husband was looking at some websites and I decided to read this.  It’s an interesting anaylsis of the Iraqi war.  Keep in mind that this was written at the end of 2004, and things have actually changed–for the better, but I still think that this was pretty interesting!

And also, this comic strip from today!  Totally reminded me of me and my brother when we were growing up!  I really enjoy Baby Blues!!!

So true--Baby Blues

I’m all out…

I’m all out of letters…

I have no idea what to write, all I know is that I haven’t written in several days, and I probably should.  Casey went to the vet yesterday to have his bandage changed.  It looks like his scar is healing up very well.  The vet gave me some sedatives for him since he spends a big part of his day in the kennel barking or spinning.  Yesterday, they gave him some morphine and a tranquilizer and he was knocked out for the day.

It’s nearly 7 in the morning and I’m exhausted!  The days are becoming longer again.  Around mid-June the sun will be starting to come out around 4 am.  With no curtains in my bedroom as of right now, sleeping could be a problem.  I woke up around 6 this morning and went to bed fairly early–around 10.  I still don’t feel like I’ve gotten enough sleep, which sounds crazy I know!

Rob was in K-Town yesterday because Casey needed to go to the vet’s office–plus there was stuff here that he needed to do, so I got a whole extra night with him 😀  He has a meeting here this morning and a meeting in Hanau later today.  He’ll be in Hanau for the rest of the week–which is always a bummer but I can handle it.

Sometime today, I’m supposed to get my refridgerator, washer and dryer delievered!  I’m pretty excited about that.  But, I think I’m going to take Casey upstairs and we’re gonna take a little nap before Rob gets home from PT.

Oh, yeah, one more thing before I sign off — Rob’s best man from our wedding, Scott and his wife Mickey had their 2nd child.  I’m not sure when, but I assume it was in the last 3 days.  They named him Graham Christopher!  How precious!  Congratulations you guys!  We’re so happy for you!!!

Well, thanks for reading and have a great day!

G is for…

G is for going for a jog!  Yup, I did that today!  I look about 6 months pregnant.  That really bothers me, since I’m not!

So, I had a dream last night that I went for a run and today I went for a jog.  3 miles or so (perhaps more, I don’t have an odometer) in 55 minutes.  Feel really good about myself, albeit sweaty and feeling nasty in general!

Casey and his incessant barking is driving me to my wits ends right now!  Nothing I do will make him stop.  I can yell at him all day long and it doesn’t help.  I could smack him on the nose but that only scares him for a second, then starts up again.  I don’t know what else I can do.  I understand that he wants out of his kennel, but if he didn’t chase cars, he wouldn’t be in his kennel, walking on 3 legs right now.

Not too much else to say right now, other than I desperately NEED a shower and I hope Rob gets home soon cuz I want to go out for dinner tonight!  It is Friday night afterall–date night! :p

Well, thanks for reading and have a great day!!! 🙂

New blog recommendations

Hi everyone!  Today I stumbled upon two new blogs that I wanted to share with you and another one that I have been frequenting for about a month now.

http://indya42.livejournal.com/ has a fascinating look at her life–a stroll down memory lane and gives herself advice.  It’s like if I knew then what I know now, type of thing.  She’s an incredible writer and is in the process of doing a collaborative blog with some friends of hers and that can be found here: http://www.textyladies.com/

http://www.shorpy.com/ has some cool old photos.  It’s worth a gander.  I stumbled upon this blog because http://itallstarted.wordpress.com/ has linked to the site several times.  Speaking of…”It All Started” seems like an interesting blog.  She’s a teacher in Australia and she’s quite witty.

So what are you waiting for? …go take a gander and these sites…and thanks!  Have a nice day!

Voices

Next month at NaBloPoMo, the theme is Voices.  I’m not sure how to approach this theme, but I’ve got sometime to figure all of that out.  Okay, so I’m going to try AGAIN to see if I can meet the challenge.  I wasn’t able to do it in November or April–so maybe May is my month to complete the challenge.  We’ll see!

Anyway, nothing else new to report, just thought I’d update!

Thanks for reading and have a good day 🙂

F is for…

F is for fun–as in I’m not having any of it!

Casey’s asleep in his kennel and I have to get busy on this house.  I’ve been gone for two days and that didn’t help matters.

I still don’t have a washer and dryer yet and I won’t get it until the 29th!  Uggh!

Okay, there’s not a lot to talk about everything interesting over here has already happened.  I’m boring today, I know.  Anyway, I guess I better go for now.

Don’t have too much fun without me 😉

E is for…

E is for energy. This is something I have little of today. Casey had his surgery yesterday, and you’d think that he would have less, but no-sirrreee-bob! After more than 4 hours traveling with me from the vet home, he would be more tired–but he’s not. He finally fell asleep on my lap! Thank goodness too!

His leg is completely bandaged and it looks as though he has no leg, only a stump. I’ve gotten a lot of sympathetic looks and I’ve had a few conversations (in German!) about other people’s pets.

E is also for Egypt. While on the train to pick up Casey, I met an Egyptian woman and her son. I explained to her that I wanted to go to Egypt! She told me that I should go in the fall because it wouldn’t be so hot. She studied English in school; mainly classic literature and so on…she said she hasn’t used English in a very long time. Our conversation was mostly in German!

Anyway, Casey’s getting restless. I need to go. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Edit:

Casey and I made it home safe and sound.  I took a cab from the train station because it’s hard to carry 15 lbs of dead weight on your arm.  The first thing I did was put Casey in his kennel.  I went to see if the cat still had food and I expected him to bark.  He whined a little bit, but stopped quickly.  I gave him his pills and he laid down.  He had an accident in the kennel, so I put him on the couch so I could clean up the kennel.

After all that, he finally laid down and slept for several hours.  I woke him up so that he could go to the bathroom.  After I tried holding him, I realized that was easier said than done.  We went back in to get his leash and kept it very tight and short.  After about 10 minutes he finally went.  After we came back in, he decided he was hungry and ate quite a bit.  I presented him water, but he’s not interested in it.

Now, he’s growling a little bit, trying not to bark and I don’t know if that means what I think it means.  It took a really long time for him to do #1…how long will #2 take?

So, I’m going to sign off and hope that this doesn’t take too long so that I can get some sleep, I’m so exhausted!

D is for…

D is for delivery! Apparently, and I don’t remember doing this…but all things considered, I probably did, entered a “Caps” contest with the Minor League Baseball Association! Well, I received a package from them yesterday, most likely. I tore open the package and find 7 baseball caps! Further inside the package is a letter stating that I had been selected as a winner! It was so exciting; I never win contests…though I’m sure I entered that eons ago! So woohoo for me!

Oh yeah, I should mention here that 2 of the 7 hats are Cincinatti Reds caps and I honestly don’t know the other teams. I’ll research it later and fill you in!

The other delivery was of Casey to the vet’s office in Frankfurt. The people in the vet’s office looked at him and said, “What’s wrong with him?” because if you didn’t know that he had 2 fractures or a dislocated hip, you wouldn’t know anything was wrong with him. Even the vet was surprised. And for as long as it’s been going on. Well, from what the dr was saying was that they had to put a little pin into his pelvis and femur and at least 2 weeks recovery. The bandage has to be changed every 3-4 days, but could get away with 6 days. He will be unable to walk and I am supposed to hold him while he does his business! Lucky me! Rob says, “You wanted a baby…”

The week is shaping up to be so much better. Rob’s mood seems to have been lifted and all’s well!

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

C is for…

C is for Casey and Cat.  🙂  Gizmo and Casey have been playing all morning long.  Gizmo has actually been purring all morning and I can’t give him enough attention today.

Casey’s doing alright, but I’m still waiting for the Vet in Frankfurt to call me back.  I don’t know what his thoughts are about the surgery that they were talking about here in Kaiserslautern.

Rob had a heck of week last week and it was exacerbated by the fact that Casey’s been hurt—things take longer and Casey can’t be left along, so extra consideration has been made.

Hopefully, this week will be better for him.  I think it’s shaping up to be that way.  He says he’s feeling a little depressed and I don’t know what I can do to help him other than try to keep his mind off of it.  (which I think I did a pretty good job of that this weekend.  We watched Friends re-runs all weekend!)

Rob has to spend the next 4-6 weeks in Hanau as the unit is preparing to move, so I will only get to see him on the weekends.  I guess that’s better than a deployment!  It kinda stinks though because he really doesn’t have a reason to leave the office, (and trust me when I say this) he won’t–except to sleep.  I hope he at least eats something, every now and again.  Poor guy!

C is also for caught.  Rob got a ticket for speeding 10km over the speed limit.  They have little cameras set up in random places in Germany (especially where there is a military presence) to catch speeders.  That so did not help Rob’s mood!  As a matter of fact, I was pointing at the camera telling him to be careful when it flashed–and boy was it bright.  There was no mistake about it.  Rob DEFINITELY got a ticket.  We’ll see it in the mail in 6-8 weeks-yes, they take that long to process!!!

Well, nothing else is going on…nothing new to report!  I’ll keep you posted!!!
