I Am Legend

I watched this movie last night with my husband.  These aren’t the sort of movies that I typically rent from Netflix, but I have to admit I really enjoyed it.  It freaked me out near the end of the movie, though.  I screamed so hard that I jumped back into the couch.  I hurt my tailbone and wrist in the process of all this.  I stood up and felt so dizzy that I thought that I was going to throw up.  I didn’t luckily, but it was really amusing for my husband to watch this whole thing.  There was a loud ringing in my ears and seriously, I could barely stand up.  It was crazy!

So, do you have any Netflix recommendations for me of stuff like this, but won’t freak me out?  My husband was so glad to get a movie that wasn’t a chick-flick or something like this.  He and I seldom agree on movie selections, but we both watch each others movies–it’s called compromise!  Plus, I’ve seen some pretty good movies that I wouldn’t normally watch! 😉

  1. I don’t know about I Am Legend, but I really liked Transformers. When my husband opened the envelope to put it in the DVD player I said “Transformers, it sounds stupid.” So we agreed to watch it for an hour then go to bed. Up we stayed until the darn movie was over. It was fun and totally entertaining. I like action movies though…

  2. I’m such a geek, I haven’t even seen this one yet. No Country For Old Men was interesting though I need to watch it again because I didn’t quite understand the ending or if there even was one. Juno was good. Sweet Land was good (though you’ll need to be into subtitles). I also liked Martian Child, but I love John Cusack so that could be why I liked it so.

This probably isn’t helping too much…sorry.

Transformers and Juno were good, i liked Cloverfield, the new Rambo, Dan in Real Life… and of course i Hope you Like Sex and The City, the Movie, i did 🙂

  4. If you’re looking for more scary movies, we love Guillermo Del Toro’s Spanish-language films “The Devil’s Backbone” and “Pan’s Labyrinth”. Neither is particularly gory, but unfortunately, both are likely to freak you out. (“Pan’s Labyrinth” is more of a fantasy movie but it’s still plenty scary.)

  5. What about some old Alfred Hitchcock movies? I’m a particular fan of North by Northwest and Rear Window. Plus, then you can watch the Mel Brooks movie, High Anxiety, and get most of the jokes.

  6. Movies I’ve seen recently that I recommend (but are not in the I Am Legend vein) are Waitress, Juno and 27 Dresses. But Juno and Waitress may be hard to watch unless you’re in a “good place” that day. If you know what I mean!

But a movie my friend has been raving over that IS like I Am Legend is 30 Days of Night. She LOVED it and has even bought it and watches it all the time. I have yet to see it b/c I’m a scaredy cat, but I’m going to work up the nerve soon!
